1852

Founded Berlin Falls Lumber Mill.

1888

Entered pulp and paper industry with ground wood mill.

1891

Installed first two paper machines producing newsprint.

1902

Construction of the Cascade Mill began in Gorham. The houses on site (shown in image) were bought and torn down.

1903

Housing was built for the workers building the mill.

Construction of the mill was completed in 1903.

1912

Converted to production of Kraft paper, became world’s largest producer.

1914

1917

Due to WWI name changed to Brown Paper Co. The Brown Paper company later became the largest chemical pulp mill in the world, employing 8,000 people.

Energy efficient, LED lighting and air compressor, is installed.
